West Indies will play a Test Match at the Oval for the first time since 2004 next summer when they tour England for 3 Test Matches. It will be the first Test Match of the summer. The series is one of three home Test series England will host during the World Test Championship. During their previous four Test series in this country West Indies haven’t played a Test Match at the Oval in 2007, 2009, 2012 and 2017 respectively. There is a big West Indian community in nearby Brixton and West Indies have a famous history of great performances at this iconic ground, most notably perhaps being Michael Holding’s 14 wicket haul in the 1976 Test at the ground. Therefore the tourists in the second half of the summer in Pakistan will not be playing an Oval Test Match in 2020. This will be breaking with tradition as the London venue is so often staging the final Test of the English summer.
