India are likely to play Pakistan on the 6th of March in the ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand. It will be a Sunday in the opening week of the tournament. The Pakistan-Australia 1st Test will also be in progression at the time in the Men’s game.
India were runners up in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup and will be looking to go one better under the leadership of Mitahli Raj in what will surely be her final international tournament after a long and distinguished career for the girls in blue.
This will be the 5th ICC Women’s World Cup featuring Pakistan from 12 editions. Pakistan were winless in the 2013 and 2017 Women’s World Cup editions, last winning a game in 2009. They were also winless in the 1997 Women’s World Cup tournament which was the first one that they participated in.
However, Pakistan have experienced wins over India in the 2012 and 2016 ICC T20 World Cup Women’s events.
The Women’s World Cup features 8 teams and 31 matches to be played between 4th of March and 3rd April 2022. The tournament was pushed back to 2022 from 2021 due to the pandemic which postponed the qualifying tournament and also hampered the preparations of various sides for the showcase event.
India will also lock horns with Pakistan on 31st of July that year in the Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium. That will be a Women’s tournament in the Twenty20 format.
