Mohammad Amir to play a First Class Match at Lord’s in 2024

Mohammad Amir will get the opportunity to play in a first class fixture at the Home of Cricket next summer. Amir has played four Test Matches at Lord’s against Australia in 2010 in what was his first of 12 Test appearances on English shores during his Test career, England in 2010 (where the spot fixing scandal took place), 2016 (where he made a Test return following a six year absence in a winning cause, famously taking the winning wicket when he bowled out Jake Ball bowling from the nursery end) and again in 2018 when he was part of another victory for the visitors in an early season Test Match. Amir therefore has had his greatest moment of shame at the ground but has also experienced moments of redemption and success at the venue in the four red ball appearances he has made at the ground. This will be extended to five red ball appearances at HQ in 2024 when Derbyshire play a division two County Championship clash at the venue from 23rd till 26th June.

The left arm pacer has also played 3 ODIs at Lord’s which includes a bilateral in 2016 and two World Cup fixtures in 2019. Additionally, Amir has played a T20 Blast fixture there when with Essex in 2017 and has turned out for London Spirit there in the inaugural season of The Hundred. He also has played three Twenty20 internationals at Lord’s during Pakistan’s victorious 2009 T20 World Cup campaign, including the final when he famously bounced out Dilshan for a duck in the first over of the match.

A lot of the matches Amir played for Pakistan at Lord’s were when Mickey Arthur was Coach such as the Test Matches in 2016 and 2018 and the World Cup games in 2019. Mickey will be back with Amir at Lord’s hoping to plot Middlesex’s downfall next June.

No Pakistani bowler has taken more Test wickets at Lord’s than Amir who has 18 wickets in four Tests at 22 at the famous London venue.
