South Africa will play a one day international at Lord’s in the latter part of the summer in 2025.
South Africa won their last appearance at Lord’s, an August 2022 Test Match in a 2021-2023 World Test Championship fixture on their bilateral tour of England which they won inside 3 days by an innings under the leadership of Dean Elgar.
South Africa’s last bilateral ODI at Lord’s was in May 2017 prior to the Champions Trophy starting that week and South Africa won that encounter.
They had the home side 20-6 as Rabada and co were on fire. However, more recently than that, the Proteas lost a 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup fixture at the venue to Pakistan in what was their last overall ODI appearance at the famous London venue, outside of bilateral contests.
Other international men’s fixtures at Lord’s in 2025 will include a Test against Zimbabwe, the third installment of the every two years ICC World Test Championship final, a Test from the Pataudi Trophy along with the aforementioned South African ODI appearance to round things off towards the end of the season.
South Africa are hosts of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup and will be playing an ODI at the venue which has hosted 5 of the 13 ICC Cricket World Cup finals. South Africa are yet to reach a World Cup final, despite reaching the semi-final stage on five occasions when it comes to the One Day World Cup.
By the end of the 2024 summer, Lord’s would have hosted 147 Tests and 70 ODIs in the ground’s illustrious history.
