ICC Events in Five of The Next Six English Summers

England have hosted five World Cups in Men’s Cricket, three Women’s Cricket World Cups, three Champions Trophies, all three of the ICC World Test Championship deciders and a Men’s T20 World Cup and a Women’s T20 World Cup simultaneously in 2009. Across those world events, the final been at Lord’s 10 times, The Oval thrice, Edgbaston once and Southampton once (note there wasn’t a final for the first World Cup in the Women’s game in 1973). English venues will be adding to this list in coming years.

England will host an ICC Event in five of the next six northern hemisphere summers:
2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
2027 ICC Men’s World Test Championship final.
2029 ICC Men’s World Test Championship final.
2030 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
2031 ICC Men’s World Test Championship final.

Note: In the one year where there is nothing in 2028, there is still cricket returning to the Olympic games in LA involving six teams, also falling during the northern hemisphere summer of cricket. The gold medal match has been confirmed for Saturday 29th July in the men’s event.

Lord’s will host the final of the 2026 and 2030 T20 World Cups in the respective genders whereas Old Trafford, Headingley and Edgbaston are likely to host the Test finals in 2027, 2029 and 2031 respectively given they are missing out on staging a Test against an Australia in a five match series (or India in the case of 2029) in that summer post the WTC final.
