Pakistan’s Lord’s Test 2026 – Key Facts

Eight years is the longest gap Pakistan have had for a Lord’s Test since 1954-1962.

Pakistan last played an international match at Lord’s in July 2021. It was a one day international won by the home team. Ben Stokes captained England in that series. 

Pakistan were the first Asian team to win a Lord’s Test in 1982, have the highest number of Test victories among Asian teams at Lord’s (5) and have also won their previous two Test appearances at Lord’s (2018 and 2016).

Pakistan have a 5-4 record at Lord’s against England in Test Cricket from 15 Tests at the ground.

Imam ul Haq and Shaheen Afridi are now retrospectively on the honours board in limited overs cricket in the home dressing room from a neutral World Cup clash against Bangladesh in 2019 when it comes to current Pakistan players. And Hasan Ali appears on the limited overs board in the away dressing for his five wicket haul in a bilateral one day international in 2021.  

Pakistan Captain Shan Masood captained Yorkshire in a first class match at Lord’s in April 2024. He also appeared in a County Championship game at the ground for Derbyshire in 2022. 

Shan, Babar, Imam, Abbas and Hasan Ali are players in the Pakistan squad that have played a Test at Lord’s before. Saud, Rizwan and Shaheen have played an ODI though in 2021.

Babar Azam scored 68* in his only Test innings at Lord’s in May 2018. 

Saud Shakeel has a one day international half century at Lord’s in Pakistan’s previous appearance there in 2021.

Wasim Bari (5) has the most Test appearances by a Pakistani Cricketer at Lord’s.

Mohammad Yousuf has the highest individual score by a Pakistani batter at Lord’s in 2006. His birthday actually falls on the day the 2026 Pakistan Lord’s Test commences.

Mohammad Amir (19) has the highest number of Test wickets by a Pakistani bowler at Lord’s. He achieved this over four Tests at the venue.

Hanif Mohammad (1967) and Misbah ul Haq (2016) are the only Pakistani Captains to make Test centuries at Lord’s.

Mohsin Khan (1982), Inzamam (1996) and Misbah (2016) are the three Pakistani batters that have made a Lord’s Test century in a winning cause. 

The likes of Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Younis Khan are not on the honours board at Lord’s. Noteworthy absences.

Younis Khan went 15 years between Lord’s Test appearances between 2001 and 2016.

2026 will be the latest Pakistan have played a Lord’s Test with a 27th August start. However, the fateful Lord’s Test Pakistan played in 2010 started on 26th August. 

Asad Shafiq and Sarfaraz Ahmed won both of their only Lord’s Tests as Pakistani cricketers in 2018 and 2016 respectively.

Yasir Shah is the last visiting spinner on the honours board at Lord’s in 2016. 

Opening batter Mohsin Khan became the first overseas double centurion at Lord’s since 1949 in the above success

    After Misbah’s century in 2016, there wasn’t another away Test centurion at Lord’s till Devon Conway’s double century in 2021.

    Pakistan have won 8 of their last 14 international fixtures at Lord’s with one draw. Stretching from 2006. So over the last 20 years. This comprises fixtures in all three formats. 5 Tests, 3 T20Is at the 2009 World Twenty20 and 6 ODIs (2 from World Cups).

    Pakistan have played 16 Tests at Lord’s. 2026 will be their 17th. This includes a Test against Australia in 2010 where Azhar Ali (97 Tests for Pakistan and a former Captain) made his debut.
