England’s International Summer Finally Starts Tomorrow – Key Stats and Facts

Last summer was the latest finish we have had to an English Test season with the final Test commencing on Thursday 12th September. This year is the latest start we have had to an international season in England for reasons we are all well aware of. But finally Test Cricket is back as England take on West Indies in the first of three Test Matches behind closed doors. It has been a great effort from all concerned to finally get to this point. From tomorrow we can finally enjoy live cricket, albeit not cricket as we know it.

West Indies have only played 3 Test Matches compared to England’s 12 Tests after the two sides met in the Caribbean at the beginning of 2019.

West Indies have won 4 of their last 7 Tests against England.

England have only ever played 3 Test Matches in Southampton in 2011, 2014 and 2018.

West Indies last won a Test series in England in 1988.

England have played 9 Tests in the ICC World Test Championship in 2 series. India have played 9 Tests in the ICC World Test Championship in 4 series.

Rakheem Cornwall has over 300 first class wickets aged 27. He got 10 wickets in his previous Test in India against Afghanistan. I’d be disappointed if he is left out. He is an attacking off spinner, safe slip fielder and hard hitting batsman.

England and West Indies met at the World Cup in Southampton on Friday 14th June last year and it was a comfortable 8 wicket victory for the home side that day.
