England vs Pakistan Test Series Preview

Azhar Mahmood will be part of the BBC TMS team for the series. The former Pakistan all rounder now lives in the United Kingdom. He has played county cricket for Surrey and Kent. Azhar was part of a Pakistan side that won a Test Match at Old Trafford in 2001 to square the series in Wasim Akram’s and Waqar Younis’s final Test appearance in England.

Talking of appearances:

Javed Miandad made the most Test appearances by a Pakistan Cricketer in England with 16.

Wasim Bari has made the most Test appearances by a Pakistan Cricketer at Lord’s with 5.

Pakistan have won 8 Test series against England, lost 9 series and drawn 8 series.

Joe Root got his career best Test score the last time Pakistan played a Test Match in Manchester.

England will just go 14 points behind league leaders India in the World Test Championship if they win the series 3-0 having contested the same number of points. That should be a major incentive for Joe Root and company.

Bazid Khan will make an appearance on the Cricket Debate tomorrow after play for Sky. He has struck up a good friendship with Cork and Butcher at the PSL which no doubt would have helped him get the gig with the broadcaster in order to provide a Pakistani perspective on proceedings.
